Trained as a painter but mostly works in sculpture and installations, Ali Baba explores the human form with regards to the negative and positive spaces formed through touch and within the human body. He tries to engage the viewer on a very sensitive and emotional level through very silent, subtle and delicate imagery. The work somehow possesses pathos which may have come from the experiences of his surroundings. He lives and works in Lahore, and has been participating in various group shows all over Pakistan. His work is in collection of many national and international collectors.
Born in Lahore, schooled in Karachi and Quetta, Ali Baba completed his BFA (Major: Painting) and MA (Hons) Visual Art in 2008 and 2012 from National College of Arts Lahore, with distinctions. He worked as Assistant Curator at Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery NCA, served as a Lecturer at College of Art and Design, Punjab University Lahore, and currently working as Assistant Professor at National College of Arts, Lahore.
